BARBARESCO Controlled and Warranted Origin Denomination Wine - D.O.C.G.
The Barbaresco is a red wine of particular charm, whose quality has been determined from the italian waw since 1966 when it was aknowledged as D.O.C. wine (controlled origin denomination) and in 1980 as D.O.C.G. wine (controlled and warranted origin denomination). It grows in the Province of Cuneo in the territory of the villages of Barbaresco, Treiso and Neive and in the hamlet San Rocco Seno d'Elvio of the town of Alba, from the hillside vineyards exposed to the sun, cultivated with the Nebbiolo vine. In this area, the Nebbiolo grows on about 1200 acres of land, leading to a yearly average production of 2.300.000 bottles of Barbaresco.
