The Produttori del Barbaresco social cooperative was founded in 1958 by Don Fiorino Marengo, who based his efforts on the model of the social winery founded by Domizio Cavazza at the end of the 19th century and closed in the 1920s. It originally brought together 19 Barbaresco growers. Today it has 54 members with approximately 110 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards (1/7 of the area of origin). Each year, approximately 500,000 bottles are produced, divided between Barbaresco, Nebbiolo Langhe and, only in the best vintages, Barbaresco Riserva, available in nine different historic crus in the municipality of Barbaresco. The Produttori exclusively vinifies Nebbiolo grapes suitable for Barbaresco DOCG.
