The Prunotto company was founded in 1904 as the Cantina Sociale “Ai vini delle Langhe”. The economic difficulties of the following years meant that in 1922, following the decision of many members to no longer deliver the grapes, the winery was put into liquidation and taken over by Alfredo Prunotto. In 1956, Alfredo sold the company to his winemaking friend Beppe Colla, who, in 1961, began to identify typical production areas for the separate vinification of the crus, first of these being Barolo Bussia. In 1994, with the retirement of the Colla brothers, the Marchesi Antinori family took over the company while maintaining its peculiarities. The acquisition of the Bric Turot vineyard in Barbaresco took place in 1996. The company currently has 55 hectares of vineyards at its disposal.
