The 2023 vintage was characterized by a weather situation oriented towards heat and dryness, without being able to count on the water supplies accumulated over the previous year.
Seasonal Analysis
Winter 2022-23: Relatively mild, characterized by light rainfall, alternating with periods of good weather.
Spring: Uncertain season, with heavy rain especially in April and May. May 2023 was, in fact, the coolest month of recent years.
June: Alternate, with phases of favorable weather followed by frequent rains and decreasing temperatures.
July: Summer stabilized, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in the second half of the month and muggy weather, both day and night.
A notable event occurred on July 6, when rain, hail, and strong winds hit a large area without compromising the overall performance of the year, both in terms of ripening and harvest.
The intense heat then resumed, finding partial mitigation in the last days of July, only to return oppressively in August.
September: Only in the early days of the month, with some precipitation, did the excessive heat give way to a more variable and autumnal climate.
